Gasworks’ Shin finally makes pro debut, smells like Kang Sang-jae?

Gasworks rookie Shin Joo-young (199 cm) finally made his KBL debut. Gasworks head coach Kang Hyuk compared him to DB Kang Sang-jae.

GASCO selected Shin with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 KBL Domestic Rookie Draft. The GAS Corporation was fortunate to get the pick they wanted, as Samsung, the team ahead of them, selected Cho Jun-hee. Shin is a big man of nearly 200 centimeters, but he was evaluated as having decent mid-range shooting and dribbling ability.

Gasworks head coach Kang Hyuk said before the home game against DB on the 3rd, “We’re going to try Shin Joo-young. He feels like Kang Sang-jae, and his shooting is not bad with his height. His dribbling ability is also good. He’s also very competitive on defense. His BQ is also good.” 캡틴토토 주소

Shin also mentioned KU senior Kang Sang-jae as a role model, as he wears the same number as Kang, 26. The 200-centimeter Kang Sang-jae plays DB, switching between small forward and power forward, and leads the team in scoring.

In his professional debut at DB, Shin took the court in the first quarter. Midway through the first quarter, she drew a scoring foul against DB Kim Jong-kyu and completed a three-point play. Her final stat line was 3 points and 4 rebounds in 11 minutes and 29 seconds of play. Shin’s role model, Kang Sang-jae, on the other hand, provided a contrasting performance with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to lead his team to victory.

In his second professional appearance, he scored 10 points (2 rebounds) in a home game against Jeong Kwanjang on May 5, hitting two of four three-pointers. Although the team lost, Shin’s performance was a consolation for Gasworks.

You can’t give away the first drink. Coach Kang, who said that he sees Kang Sang-jae in Shin Joo-young, also emphasized the need for experience, saying, “I think she will get better with time.”
