Trade market already open…Detroit acquires Markkanha

Three days after the World Series ended, the trade market has already opened up.

The Detroit Tigers announced on Friday that they have acquired outfielder Mark Canha, 34, from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-hander Blake Holup, 25.

Kanha’s two-year, $24.5 million contract with the New York Mets expired after this season. He had an $11.5 million team option for the 2024 season.

The fact that Detroit acquired him in a trade implies that they were willing to pick up the team option.

Instead of paying him a buyout ($2 million), Milwaukee has been receiving prospects in exchange for the option.

Milwaukee previously acquired him from the Mets during the season. The Mets paid most of his salary.

In 50 games with Milwaukee, he batted .287 with a .373 on-base percentage, .427 slugging percentage, five home runs, and 33 RBIs, helping the team win the National League Central.

In two games this postseason, he went 3-for-8 with a home run. He has played in 14 postseason games in his career.

In his nine major league seasons, he has a .250 batting average, .349 on-base percentage, and .422 slugging percentage in 924 games. 아톰카지노

He has the advantage of being able to play multiple positions. He has played first base, third base, and all outfield positions.

Hollup is a 15th round pick in the 2021 draft.

In 2022, he combined pitching and hitting, but in 2023, he focused on pitching. In 48 appearances at high Single-A and Double-A, he posted a 3.03 ERA in 65 1/3 innings pitched.
