Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yoo Jung dropped the first game 22-24 after a deuce tiebreak. In the second game, they were down 9-18 and facing defeat. However, they fought back to tie the game at 19-19 before taking it 21-19.

However, at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games this month, the pair had to settle for bronze after falling to world No. 1 Zheng Zhiwei and Huang Yaqiong of China. Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung will face Zheng Zhiwei and Huang Yaqiong again in the quarterfinals.

They have a 2-10 head-to-head record. They have beaten them twice before, at the World Championships and China Open in August this year.
