TB star Wander Franco had inappropriate relationship with minor? MLB investigating
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco, 22, is embroiled in a verbal altercation.
The Athletic and other local media outlets reported on Thursday that Major League Baseball’s office is investigating social media content involving Franco. His team, the Rays, said it was “in close contact” with the league office and watching the situation “with great caution.”
The Rays were coy about what exactly was at issue on social media. 먹튀검증
Local media picked up the story instead. According to the report, allegations of Franco having an inappropriate relationship with a minor spread on social media.
Franco missed Sunday’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which the team lost 2-9.
Head coach Kevin Cash told local media that he was aware of the allegations, but said Franco’s absence that day was a “rest decision.”
Franco also did not travel with the team to San Francisco, ESPN reported. He could be placed on the disabled list or on official leave while the investigation continues.
Franco is batting .281 with a .344 on-base percentage, .475 slugging percentage, 17 home runs, 58 RBIs and 30 stolen bases in 112 games this season.
A first-time All-Star, he is in the second year of an 11-year, $182 million contract.
