Arrest warrant for former Ansan FC president Lee Jong-geol dismissed for ‘professional soccer recruitment irregularities’

An arrest warrant has been dismissed against Lee Jong-geol, 61, the former president of Ansan Greeners FC, who is suspected of receiving tens of millions of won in exchange for joining a professional soccer club.

On July 7, Deputy Chief Judge Yoon Jae-nam of the Seoul Central District Court dismissed the arrest warrants for Lee and Bae Mo, 44, the former head of the power enhancement team, who are suspected of embezzlement and other crimes. 메이저사이트

“Although they are disputing some of the facts of the crime, they admit the basic facts and are reflecting on them,” said Yoon, adding that “objective evidence has been secured and there is a low risk of further destruction of evidence.”

“The suspect’s age, occupation, family relationships, etc. also indicate that he is unlikely to flee,” he said, adding, “It is judged that there is a lack of necessity and substantiality to detain the suspect at this stage.”

Lee appeared in court at 10:10 a.m. and denied the allegations, saying, “There was no collusion at the club level,” when asked by reporters. “When asked to say something to the players and fans, he briefly replied, “I’m sorry,” before leaving the courtroom.

Lee is accused of receiving a total of 27 million won, including 10 million won in cash and a luxury watch worth 17 million won, from player broker Choi Mo-soo in exchange for the signing of two players between November 2022 and January 2023.

Bae is accused of receiving 30 million won on three occasions from Choi in exchange for the signing of two players from August 2022 to February 2023 while he was in charge of scouting.

Prosecutors discovered the bribery of Lee and Bae while investigating additional crimes committed by Choi, who paid money to Lim Jong-heon, 57, the former head coach of Ansan Greeners FC, to sign two players to overseas clubs.
